WHAT: Winn-Dixie is offering customers a free jumbo doughnut hole in the in-store bakery (limit one per customer, per store visit, while supplies last). Customers can choose from cake, powdered or cinnamon flavors.

WHY: To celebrate National Doughnut Day. For the past 75 years, National Doughnut Day has been celebrated on the first Friday of June. The Salvation Army celebrated the first National Doughnut Day in 1938 in Chicago to raise funds during the Great Depression to commemorate the work of the “doughnut lassies,” who served fresh doughnuts to American soldiers (nicknamed “doughboys”) during World War I.
