Evie V. Kaelin, 91, of Lehigh Acres passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013. She was born in Ransons, Virginia on January 8, 1922 to Thomas Clayton and Lelia Elizabeth (nee Davis) Maxey. She married Raymond Charles Kaelin, a retired 30 year Marine veteran, on Jan. 25, 1969 in Woodbridge, Virginia. Evie supported the troops by working in a civilian position in Hawaii and Virginia. She left that career as a G12. She and her husband moved to Lehigh Acres in 1973. She was a long time member of American Legion Post 323, Elks Post 339 and VFW Post 4174 all of Lehigh Acres.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond C. Kaelin, her son, Ira Clayton Lutz and her grandson, Stephen Scott Johnson. Evie is survived by her daughter, Vickie S. Smith; her grandchildren: Kristie L. Pasquarette, Letisha D. Kennedy, Stephanie Lutz and Michelle Johnson; her “adopted sister”, Marie Cornell; her cousin, Danny Davis and a host of cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Lee Boulevard Baptist Church 3107 Lee Boulevard Lehigh Acres, FL 33971 with Pastor Claude Wilson to officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Evie’s memory may be directed to Lee Boulevard Baptist Church or Lehigh Acres Health and Rehab. 1550 Lee Blvd Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.
