Boston Marathon: Local Reaction

Lehigh Acres runner Lisa Buohler

Lehigh Acres runner Lisa Buohler has been frantically trying to reach her friends running in the Boston Marathon today, hoping to hear they’re OK.

Buohler said she cried out when she heard two explosions at the finish line today killed at least two people and injured 100 others.

“It’s just devastating,” Buohler said. “A lot of people have worked so hard to get into Boston. A lot of people have tried to qualify for years.”

Buohler told us she hasn’t heard directly from any of them. She heard through a third party that one of her friends is fine, but that leaves several people she hasn’t had any word on.

The explosions went off at the 4:09 mark, which Buohler said is right around the average finishing time for runners.

“That’s just when everyone starts to flow in,” Buohler said. “That’s just awful.”

Buohler ran the race last year, but stayed home this year to qualify for another race. She remembers finishing at the line that is now a scene of chaos and carnage.

Buohler said, “I’ve got pictures of me right there,”
