Tropical Depression 9 Has Formed

Tropical Depression 9 has formed in the Atlantic, east of the Lesser Antilles, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, the center of the storm was located near 15.1N, 52.8W and was moving west near 20mph.

The storm is expected to continue moving westward for the next few days and move through the southern Leeward Islands and northern Windward Islands on Wednesday afternoon.

A tropical storm warning has already been issued for Dominca, Guadeloupe, Desirade, Les Saintes, Marie Galante and St. Martin.

A tropical storm watch has been issued for Saba, St. Eustantius, and St. Maarten, the British Virgin Islands, as well as Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Maximum sustained winds are currently at 35 mph, strengthening is expected and the storm will likely become Tropical Storm Isaac late Tuesday.
