Isaac has changed very little throughout the day, and remains a fairly disorganized tropical Storm, with winds at 45 mph, moving W/NW at 16 mph, and it is in the Caribbean less than 1200 miles away from Southwest Florida.
The center right now is very undefined, and the system is still forecast to become a hurricane by the beginning of next week as it generally approaches Southwest Florida. However, there is much uncertainty about this track. We’ve noticed a general westerly shift in the past few official forecast tracks, keeping it a bit farther away from Southwest Florida. The weekend will also bring a lot of Isaac questions.
