The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch and tropical storm warning for Florida’s west coast from Bonita Beach south.
Lake Okeechobee is also under a tropical storm warning.
A hurricane watch means sustained winds of 74 mph or higher are possible within the specified area within 48 hours.
A tropical storm warning means sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph are expected somewhere within the specified area within 36 hours.
At 11 p.m., Tropical Storm Isaac, with maximum sustained winds of nearly 70 mph, remained on a track to make landfall in Haiti tonight.
