and Tips to Help Your Picnic in the Heat of the Summer!

 Summer Picnics

Warm weather, good friends and a patriotic theme are the only ingredients you need to have a fun summer picnic or neighborhood celebration.

As you plan a patriotic picnic or organize your neighborhood block party, keep safety in mind so everyone enjoys the fun in the sun.

Keep food cool when the temperature rises, and don’t let perishable items sit out more than one to two hours. Check out other food safety tips.  Remember to provide plenty of fluids all day and remind guests to stay hydrated.  Also, bring bug spray and a basic first-aid kit with adhesive bandages, antiseptic, aspirin or ibuprofen, sun screen and other first-aid essentials.

Have a towel and wet cloth handy for any person who may become overwhelmed by the heat and need cooling down.

Try to create shade with pavilions, umbrella’s or other uses of shade items.

Don’t forget the camera to document this event for preservation.
