For people  traveling northbound I75 in Charlotte County on May 16 and 17, please pay close attention to the following advisory:

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

I-75:  From the Tucker’s Grade interchange (#158) to south of the North Jones Loop interchange (#161): Construction projectWork continues to six-lane the interstate. Crews will add a 12-foot travel lane and a 10-foot shoulder to the inside of existing northbound and southbound I-75.  This project also includes widening the bridges at Tucker’s Grade and at Alligator Creek. Crews will resurface existing ramps at the Tucker’s Grade interchange and ramps at the weigh station.

Wednesday, May 16, at approximately 11 p.m., crews will move a crane from under the Tucker’s Grade bridge to the overpass at I-75/Tucker’s Grade interchange.  This move requires law enforcement to temporarily close the northbound I-75 on ramp at Tucker’s Grade and stop northbound I-75 traffic at Tucker’s Grade (exit #158) for approximately 10 minutes.  Westbound Tucker’s Grade traffic may also be stopped during this move. Motorists should expect nightly northbound and southbound lane closures on I-75 between Tucker’s Grade and North Jones Loop during night-time/overnight work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The contractor continues earthwork along the interstate and bridge work at the Tucker’s Grade interchange, weather permitting.  Motorists should be aware of slow moving traffic and possible delays.

PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE.

The project is estimated for completion in early 2013. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
