One of the most productive experiences young students can encounter preparing for life after high school is real-world, real-life activity. Classroom and school learning settings, while important, do not provide the environment young people will face once entering the employment market or post-high school academic world.
At the Lehigh Acres Gazette, we have a number of different “relationship” programs that will not only help develop necessary employment skills for students seeking careers or college education in media-related fields, but produce some exciting fun-filled activities. Some programs you can consider include:
School Online Newspaper – Students in a supervised (teacher-led) group produce a weekly school-news oriented page, or pages, experiencing real-world activities involving reporting, writing, editing photography and computer-based digital presentation. Students can gain greater communication abilities and develop those necessary skills needed to be an effective member of a successful team. Additionally, student representatives gain learn and put into practice contemporary marketing skills interacting with the local community seeking business sponsorship of the online school newspaper. Students with a propensity for graphic arts creation will have an enormous opportunity to learn and use the latest computer-based graphics and publication software.
Individual Opportunities – Student interns are sought to participate as Gazette representatives acting as either editorial personnel (writers/photographers) or marketing representatives (sales).
Training is available. In both situations, certain income-earning opportunities are available and can be discussed on a specific, individual basis.
We would be delighted to meet with school representatives to discuss how the Lehigh Acres Gazette can establish an ongoing relationship with your school. Not only will students involved in such programs benefit, but the school will receive a valuable resource helping to enhance student activity and promote public awareness of the positive news and activities experienced on a daily basis.
