It’s almost summertime! Schools will be out in a matter of time. There is one other thing that will be coming this summer, higher gas prices. For me, this means I won’t be able to afford to visit college campuses this summer. For others, it means they won’t be able to go out and hang out with their friends and do fun things like going to the beach. The high gas prices also make it hard to go to after school events such as a Football game because for some teens they rely on their parents for transportation and if their parents don’t have the money for gas they can’t come and get them. Some teenagers are opting to use other types of transportation, such as carpooling, riding bikes or taking the bus, to save money and gas. Other teens might not buy a car because they couldn’t afford the gas to get anywhere anyway. Teens will now have to save money for gas which means less money for video games, clothes, and other things they may want to buy. A senior Rebbeca Guiterez had this to say “For me, Since I Drive now, and my dad is making me pay for gas, I have to save up the gas for when I need it. I hate that the cost keeps going up!”
