Lawrence R. Merritt, 92, of Lehigh Acres, FL, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Meridian, Mississippi, he was the son of the late David and Bama Merritt.
Lawrence served his country proudly in the United States Army and will be remembered as a happy man and an avid golfer and bike rider. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Tucker, Dr. Kim and the wonderful staff at Hope Hospice for their compassionate care.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Helen Merritt, with whom he shared 52 years; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Family and friends will gather from 4 – 7pm Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in the Anderson – Patterson Funeral Home, 2701 Lee Blvd Lehigh Acres, Fl 33971 (239) 368.7080.
