Several suspicious wildfires have occurred in Lee and Hendry counties this year, and Caloosahatchee Forestry Center reminds residents to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

Of the 32 fires in Lee County so far this year, 14 are incendiary in nature, meaning they were intentionally set. Eight of the 19 wildfires in Hendry County are classified as incendiary. In every instance, these wildfires put lives and properties at risk.

The Arson Alert Hotline offers residents an easy way to report suspicious wildfires – (800) 342-5869. Information that leads to an arrest may result in a reward of up to $5,000, and callers may remain anonymous. Provide as much information as you can when you call, such as a vehicle description, license plate number, and physical description of the person or persons.

Wildfire prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Contact us at (239) 690-3500, or visit www.floridaforestservice.com to learn what you can do to make your family and home safer from wildfires. Report arson at (800) 342-5869.
