County Reminds Community
Planning Council of Its Role

The Lehigh Acres Community Planning Council was reminded again by Kathie Ebaugh, a planner with the county, that it is only an advisory board, not an official group sanctioned by the county. She said it was no different in several other locations in the county where communities have planning groups. They are regarded as powerless, but their suggestions of pending projects may be sought by the hearing examiner and/or the Lee County Commission.

But as Edd Weiner Chairman of the LACPC noted, “nothing we suggest can make developers change things as long as they meet code requirements.”

The Planning Council gave its approval on a project to convert a model home at 4900 Lee Blvd., to a physician’s office.

Members of the LACPP said they were delighted that model homes along Lee Blvd. could be used as a commercial place of business and hopes one day that all the model homes be removed or remodeled for future business sites.
