A major setback tonight for those hoping to bring a $300 million casino resort between Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres.
The petition drive to put the plan before voters in November has failed.
Developers of the casino resort slated to be built near the forum in Fort Myers did not collect enough signatures from voters to get it on the ballot. 24,000 were required, but only a little over 20,000 were valid.
Developers say they will now start the process all over again collecting signatures from registered voters.
