If you’ve had too much to drink and can’t get a cab you can call AAA.
AAA is offering a free and confidential tow service called “tow to go” St. Patrick’s Day weekend for anyone who has been drinking.
“The reason the program is so important is we not only protect the intoxicated driver,” said Joanna Newton, with AAA, “but we protect everybody else on the roadway.”
The program, meant as a last resort, provides anyone who has been drinking a free and confidential ride home – along with a free tow for their car.
The program runs through Sunday and you don’t have to be a AAA member.
AAA says they have taken over 18,000 drunk drivers off the road since 1998.
If you’re interested in the free car towing service and ride home you can call (800) AAA-HELP.
The Lee County Sheriff’s office will be doing a vehicle safety checkpoint at an undisclosed location this weekend.
Deputies encourage anyone who spots a drunk driver to call 911. If you mention the “mobile eyes” program you can get $50.
