Mitchell \u2013 United States Postal Service<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Special to the Gazette<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9332\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9332\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Norma-Jean.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9332\" title=\"Norma Jean\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Norma-Jean.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"516\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Norma Jean<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Tampa, Fl, customers Robert and Deborah Ray, along with their three dogs, were headed home through Ashburn, GA, when they were involved in a traffic accident.\u00a0 In the confusion, the Rays\u2019 dogs were lost.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The couple found two of the dogs.\u00a0 But, they couldn\u2019t find Norma Jean, their small terrier mix, and had to leave her behind.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Later, Ashburn postal clerk Tangela McKinney told the Rays that Every Door Direct Mail could help them find Norma Jean.\u00a0 McKinney contacted Plains, GA Postmaster Lori McDonough, who helped the Rays prepare their Every Door Direct mailing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Rays used Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) to saturate with flyers the area where they had last seen Norma Jean.\u00a0 Shortly after the mailing, they began receiving calls from residents who had seen the dog.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>None of the responders were able to capture Norma Jean, but the Rays were able to identify an area where she had been spotted.<\/p>\n<p>Ten days later, the Rays drove back to Ashburn to search the area and found\u00a0Norma Jean.\u00a0 The Rays were very happy to be reunited with Norma Jean, they credit the postal service and Every Door Direct Mail for the successful recovery of their pet.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Every Door Direct Mail is a new service which allows for saturation on any mail route in the U.S.\u00a0 Mail pieces are addressed simply to postal customer.\u00a0 This service is a perfect way for businesses of any size to find new customers.\u00a0 It also is a good fit for community newsletters (and finding lost pets).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Three FREE programs in June will fully explain the EDDM service.\u00a0\u00a0 Dates are June 26 in Naples, June 27 in Ft Myers and June 28 in Port Charlotte.\u00a0 For more information or to register for the program e-mail <a href=\"mailto:debra.j.mitchell@usps.com\">debra.j.mitchell@usps.com<\/a> or call 239-573-5638.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Follow the Postal Service on www.twitter.com\/USPS and at <a title=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/USPS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/USPS\">www.facebook.com\/USPS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Mr. Zip\u2019s Tip: <\/strong><em>Every Door Direct Mail allows mailers to saturate a delivery route anywhere in the U.S. for only 14.5 cents postage per piece.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Postal.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every Door Direct Mail helps find lost dog by Debra J.
