There will be a final meeting on 5:00 p.m. on June 14 before the full Conservation 20\/20 committee.<\/p>\n<p>There was more than 20 Lehigh Acres residents as well as two archeologists came out to the committee meeting wearing T-shirts saying \u201cLehigh Spring\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Subcommittee Chairman Cullum Hasty was very enthusiastic to preserve the property but other board members had questions on how to properly maintain the land after purchase.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During the meeting the following residents were quoted to say:<\/p>\n<p>Ruth Anglickis \u201cThis is old Florida which includes one of the oldest Oak Hammock\u2019s in the state\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edd Weiner \u201cThis could be a focal point\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jerre Carrick \u201cThis is a diamond in the rough\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Damon Shelor \u201cWe have tried retain green areas in Lehigh\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Annette Snapp, Director of the Southwest Region at the Florida Public Archeology Network said, &#8220;This can become a heritage tourism focus, which plays a big role in the economy of our state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh Spring is over 200-feet deep is covered by an oak hammock which could hold substantial archeological significance.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time in two years that Lehigh Spring owner Ken O&#8217;Leary has submitted an application for consideration of the land in the 20\/20 plan.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Ray Judah called for the support of the purchase of Lehigh Spring.
