Mitchell \u2013 United States Postal Service<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special to the Gazette<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mail-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9245\" title=\"mail-300x225\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mail-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Are you going on vacation and need to put your mail on \u201chold?\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s a simple task by following one of these three procedures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>File online at\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"http:\/\/www.usps.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usps.com\/\">www.usps.com<\/a>\u00a0(select manage your mail in the top blue bar, then select Hold Mail)<\/li>\n<li>Submit a completed PS Form 8076 Authorization to Hold Mail, at your\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 local post office facility.<\/li>\n<li>Contact 1-800-ASK-USPS where a representative can assist you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Hold Mail request is not necessary for a PO Box, as mail will be allowed to accumulate for up to 30 days.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>When completing an online Hold Mail request, a confirmation page will be displayed with a confirmation number to verify your request has been accepted.\u00a0 Make sure you print out this page or copy down your confirmation number for future reference.<\/p>\n<p>Online Hold Mail requests submitted before 2:00 a.m. Central Time can begin on the same postal business day (Monday through Saturday).\u00a0 Requests made in person or by calling the 1-800- number must be submitted one business day in advance.\u00a0 You may submit a Hold Mail request up to\u00a0\u00a030 days in advance.\u00a0 Only one hold is permitted at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Hold Mail requests must be made for a minimum duration of 3 days. The maximum duration is 30 days.\u00a0 All mail regardless of name will be held for the address entered.\u00a0 Submitting a Hold Mail request once is all that is required to hold mail delivery for everyone at the address.\u00a0 When your mail is placed on hold, the Post Office will hold all packages as well.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cEnd Date\u201d of your Hold Mail request is the date mail will be delivered by your letter carrier.<\/p>\n<p>Going to be away for more than 30 days?\u00a0 Or do you want\u00a0to\u00a0have your mail\u00a0sent to you while on vacation?\u00a0 No Problem!\u00a0 Sign up for Premium Forwarding Service at <a title=\"http:\/\/www.usps.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usps.com\/\">www.usps.com<\/a> or in person at your local post\u00a0office.\u00a0 Your mail, including bulk business mail (so you won&#8217;t miss out on those valuable coupons or magazines) will be sent to you weekly in\u00a0a Priority Mail shipment.\u00a0 A fee of $15.25 is charged for this service.<\/p>\n<p>To schedule a presentation for your community, club or group on how the Postal Service brings the Post Office to your home or office computer, call 239-573-9638.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Debra J.
