{"id":9118,"date":"2012-06-01T15:25:41","date_gmt":"2012-06-01T20:25:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=9118"},"modified":"2012-06-01T15:25:41","modified_gmt":"2012-06-01T20:25:41","slug":"most-wanted-fugitive-captured-in-mexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2012\/06\/most-wanted-fugitive-captured-in-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"Most Wanted Fugitive Captured in Mexico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of Lee County&#8217;s most wanted fugitives has been captured in Mexico after nearly four years on the run.<\/p>\n<p>Working in conjunction with the Lee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office Fugitive Warrants Unit, U.S. Federal Marshals arrested Luis Gonzalez (DOB 10-2-85) on May 31, 2012 in El Pedernal, Mexico.\u00a0 The arrest culminates tireless efforts by detectives with the Lee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office Major Crimes Unit to bring Gonzalez to justice for the brutal death of 25-year-old Tia Poklemba.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Poklemba\u00a0was discovered lying in the middle of a road in San Carlos Park in the early morning hours of August 8, 2008.\u00a0 Tips called in to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers helped detectives zero in on Luis Gonzalez.\u00a0 Detectives were able to determine that Gonzalez met Poklemba at a nearby bar.\u00a0 Evidence at the scene showed that Poklemba had been run over twice by a car and left for dead.\u00a0 As investigators closed in on Gonzalez, he fled Southwest Florida to Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>The case captured national attention and has been featured on America&#8217;s Most Wanted three times.\u00a0 Each time, valuable tips were received.\u00a0 The most recent airing on the Lifetime TV Network in March generated the tip that pinpointed exactly where in Mexico Gonzalez was hiding.\u00a0 From there, the plan was put in motion to arrest Gonzalez.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzalez faces charges of Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Manslaughter with a Weapon, both First Degree Felonies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of Lee County&#8217;s most wanted fugitives has been captured in Mexico after nearly four years on the run.
