{"id":7164,"date":"2012-04-24T09:00:41","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T14:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=7164"},"modified":"2012-04-24T09:00:41","modified_gmt":"2012-04-24T14:00:41","slug":"walk-for-the-fallen-send-off-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2012\/04\/walk-for-the-fallen-send-off-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"Walk for the Fallen Send Off Ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Walk-for-The-Fallen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6040 alignleft\" title=\"Walk for The Fallen\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Walk-for-The-Fallen.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In just a matter of hours, aLeeCountydeputy will lace up the sneakers for a trek that will span nearly 400 miles and take him to\u00a0the state capital inTallahassee.\u00a0 Sergeant David Drum isn&#8217;t walking and running toTallahassee\u00a0for the exercise (although he will get plenty), but rather to raise awareness and money for the children and families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A Send off Ceremony will be held <strong>tomorrow <\/strong>(Wednesday) morning at <strong>7:00 a.m.<\/strong> at Lee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office Headquarters located at14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway.\u00a0 The ceremony will include an Honor Guard presentation of the Colors, Pledge of Allegiance, prayers, song and remarks from Sergeant Drum and Sheriff Mike Scott.\u00a0 The walk\/run begins immediately following the ceremony at approximately 7:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Day 1 \u2013 April 25<sup>th<\/sup><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Beginning at LCSO Headquarters at 7am for send off ceremony, run begins at 7:30<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The route travels to US41 where it remains for the entire day through Lee County crossing into Charlotte County and ending in Port Charlotte near 2378 Tamiami Trl.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Day 2 \u2013 April 26<sup>th<\/sup><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled to begin at 5am, the route stays on US41 into Sarasota County.\u00a0 The run travels through North Port, Venice and ends near the intersection of Glengary St in South Sarasota.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Day 3 \u2013 April 27<sup>th<\/sup><\/span>:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled to begin at 5am, the route remains on US41 into Manatee County, through Bradenton, Palmetto and into Hillsborough County.\u00a0 The run continues through Sun City and Ruskin before ending in the area of Falls Blvd and S.
