{"id":6751,"date":"2012-04-17T15:08:56","date_gmt":"2012-04-17T20:08:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=6751"},"modified":"2012-04-17T15:08:56","modified_gmt":"2012-04-17T20:08:56","slug":"daily-traffic-enforcement-update-april-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2012\/04\/daily-traffic-enforcement-update-april-17\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Traffic Enforcement Update April 17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office Traffic Unit is providing the information listed below in continuing efforts to increase traffic safety awareness and education, plus to emphasize the importance of obeying traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes, injuries and death on Lee County roads.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, April 18, 2012, the Traffic Unit will target at least one of the following three locations for enforcement:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"15%\">&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"85%\">Chiquita Boulevard, Cape Coral<\/p>\n<p>Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, Fort Myers<\/p>\n<p>Leonard Boulevard, Lehigh Acres<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><!--more-->Locations are selected based upon high incidents of crashes, traffic surveys and citizen complaints. The Sheriff\u2019s Office is committed to promoting traffic safety and enforcing the law. By focusing on violations such as red light running, speeding, DUI and others, motorists become more alert and are encouraged to obey traffic laws. The Sheriff\u2019s Office Traffic Unit and District Patrol Deputies enforce our traffic laws each day by issuing citations and warnings. Preliminary results from their cumulative activity yesterday are as follows:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"20%\">&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"25%\">Citations Issued:<\/td>\n<td width=\"55%\">43<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"20%\">&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"25%\">Written Warnings Issued:<\/td>\n<td width=\"55%\">154<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Citizens can help by letting us know if they observe problem areas, aggressive or impaired drivers and by their compliance with the rules of the road. Each day deputies of the Sheriff&#8217;s Office are committed to removing impaired drivers from our roadways with the ultimate goal of reducing traffic related crashes, injuries and fatalities.
