The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said a Lehigh Acres man armed with a machete chased his girlfriend to a Lee County Sheriff’s Precinct and then nearly hit deputies as he tried to take off.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sheriff Carmine Marceno said Leodan Gallo got into a fight with his girlfriend on Friday and chased after her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He follows our victim’s car. He’s driving erratically. You know, whatever he can do to keep up with that victim. She stops at an intersection, he gets out with a machete, and he’s swinging it,” said Marceno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputies say Gallo smashed her windshield when she stopped at an intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of fear, she drove straight to the precinct on Homestead Road for help. Deputies tried to arrest Gallo outside when it took a turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He gets in his vehicle and attempts to leave. Well, during that verbal altercation, he almost runs our deputies over, striking them with the door of their vehicle,” said Marceno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gallo was taken into custody for multiple charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“That’s crazy and scary. Yeah, because he literally hit, according to what I saw on the news, he hit the patrol car,” said Lehigh Acres resident Iris Perez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, the deputies and the girlfriend weren’t hurt. The sheriff said deputies found two machetes in his car.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
