{"id":59892,"date":"2024-08-16T20:59:23","date_gmt":"2024-08-17T00:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=59892"},"modified":"2024-08-17T16:20:47","modified_gmt":"2024-08-17T20:20:47","slug":"lee-county-supervisor-of-elections-apologizes-for-affair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2024\/08\/lee-county-supervisor-of-elections-apologizes-for-affair\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee County Supervisor of Elections apologizes for affair"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Supervisor of Elections for Lee County, Tommy Doyle, is making a public and personal apology days before he is&nbsp;up for re-election.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"238\" height=\"159\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lee-County-SOE-Tommy-Doyle.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-59890\" style=\"width:392px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Doyle sent the media a statement about allegations of an extramarital affair with a female co-worker after the Miami Independent first reported it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the statement, Doyle admits to making a terrible decision five years ago that hurt his wife deeply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said. \u201cThis was the worst decision of my life and something I deeply regret. My wife and I are working through this together, and through the grace of God, we are healing as a family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also apologized to his staff and the constituents of Lee County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was first elected as the Supervisor of Elections in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The county HR has commented on the days Doyle was at the co-worker&#8217;s house during working hours.
