Did you know that during the recent and horrendous rain storms that we all suffered through this past week, Governor Ron DeSantis signed the state budget to deny funds for stormwater removal?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 12th<\/sup>, Governor DeSantis signed the Florida state budget which includes approximately $25 million cuts in stormwater, wastewater and sewage removal projects. As he was signing the budget he was also declaring emergencies in Broward, Collier, Lee, Miami-Dade and Sarasota counties because of the storms and rising water damage from floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeSantis\u2019 cuts as well, include money for repairs for stormwater systems and main replacements which is certain to have further negative impact on already saturated ground and weathered and worn stormwater removal systems throughout our state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has already predicted that 2024 will be a record-breaking hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Gulf of Mexico, we are sure to see our storm and wastewater systems reach full capacity and breached once again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
