{"id":56906,"date":"2023-01-20T00:21:28","date_gmt":"2023-01-20T05:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=56906"},"modified":"2023-01-20T00:21:36","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T05:21:36","slug":"lee-county-schools-looking-for-name-suggestions-for-the-old-lehigh-acres-middle-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2023\/01\/lee-county-schools-looking-for-name-suggestions-for-the-old-lehigh-acres-middle-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee County schools looking for name suggestions for the old Lehigh Acres Middle School"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The School district of Lee County is reopening the original Lehigh Acres Middle School on Arthur Avenue as a stand-alone middle school beginning in August 2023 and needs a new name for it.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"658\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56907\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-5.png 658w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-5-300x91.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 658px) 100vw, 658px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The school will serve sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students in the fall who choose the school during the January 17 to March 3 open enrollment period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The district has a couple of considerations it would like people to make before suggesting a name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The history, culture, and people of Florida and especially of Southwest Florida;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The natural environment and native plants and animals of Florida and especially of Southwest Florida;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notable events or achievements that are associated with Florida and especially with Southwest Florida;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The neighborhood, community, or physical location of the school;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Founders, leaders, heroes, symbols, and fundamental principles of our nation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee County schools are in the process of appointing a principal who will hire a team of administrators, teachers, and support staff. Currently, the school is referred to as Middle School QQ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can submit a name for the school by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leeschools.net\/our_schools\/middle_school_qq\">clicking here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions will be accepted until 5 p.m. January 26. Then a committee will review the suggestions and narrow them down for a second community input session in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The original Lehigh Acres Middle School closed at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
