<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\nKelvis Maiguel had no option other than to close up his roadside business, Ceberiano\u2019s Hot Dogs and More, after he came to work one day and found the generator was gone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been through worse, and I\u2019ll go through even harder things,\u201d said Maiguel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kelvis has already been through the thick of it. He was shot while working his stand in May 2022. For weeks, Kelvis was fighting for his life in the hospital before a long road to<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Things started looking up recently after he established his business in a parking lot at the intersection of Homestead Road and Alabama Road. <\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s like a rollercoaster. You have good days\u2026 and you got bad days,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is until he came into work about a week and a half ago to find he had no way to power the food cart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe come over here after getting gas and come to find out there was no generator,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Someone came in the middle of the night and stole the generator, cutting a chain used to secure it to the food cart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey needed it that bad; you over here messing me up,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maiguel has been through a lot, but the Lehigh Acres community has rallied around him. After all, they gave him the nickname of \u201cThe Hot Dog Guy.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It might be partly due to his infectious smile and incredibly positive attitude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf life was easy, everybody would be rich, happy,\u201d he said. \u201cYou gotta just keep pushing forward. Some days are better than others. I just always remember, God\u2019s got my back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was out of work for more than a week, only reopening on Wednesday. It took him a while to get the money together and find a generator that would work for his cart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s really sad though,\u201d Dana Marchman said. \u201cThis is an amazing comeback for him to have went through that and then come back to work here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He spent $500 on the new power supply. He\u2019ll have to sell roughly 84 regular hot dogs to pay it off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m just really hoping they really needed it,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maiguel has since installed four security cameras all around the trailer. Plus, he plans on bringing the generator in every night for safekeeping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As for the man that shot him, 24-year-old James Gonzales, he\u2019s still in jail. His next scheduled court appearance is in March. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
