Did you know that this coming Thursday will be the 401st<\/sup> anniversary of Thanksgiving?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November of the year 1621, and after the Pilgrims\u2019 first successful vegetable harvest, Governor William Bradford put together a celebration feast for all the residents of the colony including Native Americans who lived nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many years, Thanksgiving throughout America meant a holiday where families would get together to give thanks to God with a prayer and in sharing a celebratory meal. Today, the traditional family is all but gone, but the holiday and it\u2019s meaning remains the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Thanksgiving holiday is also the most travelled day of the year, there are some Floridians who have decided to stay home and celebrate. Here in Florida, many who have transplanted their lives from other states over the years have also left behind family members for various reasons including a bad economy, expensive gasoline costs and other reasons. These reasons may also prevent them from being with family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey which is the most popular portion of any Thanksgiving holiday meal, is expensive and sometimes difficult to find this year. Thankfully, there are some church and civic organizations that have been giving away turkeys, or whole Thanksgiving meals for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are someone who is in need this year for a Thanksgiving meal, you too may be eligible for free food. Contact your local church or charities to see if they can help. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
