Upon arrival, deputies found \u201cMoney,\u201d a puppy, in a small cage on the unscreened lanai completely exposed to the elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Money was covered in its own urine and feces and had a severe rectal prolapse. On top of being extremely underweight, the puppy also appeared to have chemical burns on its paws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No food or water was provided for the dog when deputies responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dog\u2019s owner, Brentoya Michelle Jackson, said she had adopted the dog in July but did not read any of the materials provided by Lee County Animal Services about caring for the puppy. She also told deputies that she wouldn\u2019t pay the $50 fee in order to surrender the dog to LCAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked why she left the dog outside in the bad conditions, Jackson said Money began whining, and she did not want it waking anyone up. She admitted to noticing the dog\u2019s condition worsening earlier but did not provide the necessary care or treatment to avoid further pain or suffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Money was owner-surrendered and taken to a veterinary office for treatments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;A six-month-old chihuahua is receiving medical care after being discovered in horrendous conditions.
