Central Tropical Atlantic:\nAn elongated area of low pressure located several hundred miles east \nof the Lesser Antilles is producing a large area of disorganized \nshowers and thunderstorms. Although environmental conditions are \nonly marginally conducive, some gradual development of this system \nis expected over the next several days and a tropical depression is \nlikely to form later this week or this weekend. The disturbance is \nforecast to move slowly toward the west and then west-northwest at 5 \nto 10 mph, toward the adjacent waters of the northern Leeward \nIslands. Additional information on this system can be found in High \nSeas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service. \n* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent.\n* Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent.\n\n2. Eastern Tropical Atlantic:\nA tropical wave accompanied by a broad area of low pressure is \nlocated off the west coast of Africa. Some gradual development is \npossible, and the system could become a short-lived tropical \ndepression over the far eastern Atlantic during the next few days. \nBy late this week, environmental conditions are forecast to become \nincreasingly unfavorable for further development.
