There have been inquiries about Karnes’s sexual relationships with many of the women who work for him and promoted them to management because of the nature of their sexual relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karnes disclosed in a recent inquiry had been involved in a personal romantic relationship and that Former Clerk Linda Doggett knew about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karnes has also used his office email to promote his candidacy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two separate emails from Clerk Kevin C. Karnes (Subject). Both emails were dated April 4, 2022. The first email was a work email sent at 8:03 a.m. via the Clerk\u2019s email system to the All Clerk Mail list. The topic was an internal staff survey that was being conducted. The portion of the email highlighted and complained about was the apparent campaign reference the Clerk included at the end of the email in which he stated, \u201cSee you all tonight\u201d followed by a happy face emoji.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second email was sent from an external source at 9:32 a.m. and invited recipients to attend a campaign kickoff event for the Clerk that same evening. The Complainant alleged that the Campaign<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The email had been sent to an unnamed Clerk\u2019s office employee at their work email, but the employee had only signed up for the Clerk\u2019s newsletter through LeeClerk.org and had never been to the campaign website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The substance was that these emails represented abuse through the \u201cimproper use of an employee or official\u2019s position in a manner other than its rightful or legal use.\u201d The ethical misconduct alleged referred to was when \u201cpublic officials and government employees conduct their duties in a manner which is not impartial; use their public office for personal gain;…\u201d FS 104.31 1a Use his or her official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with an election or a nomination of office or coercing or influencing another person\u2019s vote or affecting the result thereof.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
