After spending more than two and a half weeks in the hospital, a Lehigh Acres man who was shot while working his hot dog stand is back home.<\/p>\n\n\n

Kelvis Maiguel, better known as the Lehigh Acres \u2018Hot Dog Guy\u2019 was shot on May 31 while working his roadside stand set up at the corner of Homestead Boulevard and Milwaukee Road South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGod does love me. I\u2019m alive,\u201d Maiguel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been 31 days since Maiguel was shot and he\u2019s more than alive. He\u2019s out of the hospital and nearly healed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cUnless God wants me up there, I\u2019m not leaving anytime soon,\u201d he said. \u201cThey told me I was a miracle. And I told them I believe it. I believe it\u2019s because of God I\u2019m still here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the medical field, a miracle isn\u2019t a real thing. But Kelvis is about as close as you can get to it. He was shot in the chest three times with bullets grazing his lung and hitting his colon and liver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy chest was the entry wounds to the bullets, but since they didn\u2019t go out they just bounced inside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Gonzalez of Lehigh Acres is accused of pulling the trigger. Luckily a deputy was nearby and he was arrested. Their families know one another from past problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI forgave you once when you robbed my house,\u201d said Maiguel\u2019s mother Ana Dannic. \u201cThis is no forgiveness for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat goes around comes around and I\u2019m honestly not sorry for anything bad that happens to you bro,\u201d Maiguel added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maiguel was released from the hospital on June 24 and came home after a two-and-a-half week stay in the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI could not have been happier,\u201d Dannic said. \u201cI was three years old and it was Christmas and he was my big toy I was waiting for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one place Maiguel wanted to be was in the kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt brings me like nostalgia. Pure adrenaline and happiness,\u201d he said. \u201cI love making food for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maiguel and his mother run Ceberiano\u2019s Hot Dogs and More. For the past week, they\u2019ve been doing only delivery with apps like GrubHub and UberEats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s the plan until Kelvis is back to full strength, which he realized might take a little bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFinally when I\u2019m done, I\u2019m like \u2018okay, wait. Now I need to sit down because I\u2019m exhausted,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the corner Kelvis once worked is quiet, it won\u2019t be like that for long. The plan is to be back out at the corner on July 19th, just one day before his birthday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
