Mann&nbsp;is a lifelong resident of Lee County and received his degree in political science from Vanderbilt University in 1964. He has spent 45 years in the business community and was the founder of his own insurance agency in 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"220\" height=\"287\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/220px-FB_Mann.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-53708\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Frank\u2019s career in public service began in 1974. He served eight years in the Florida House of Representatives and four years in the Florida Senate, representing Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties. In 1986 he was his party\u2019s nominee for Lt. Governor of Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZgaB6DUNpxo\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>During his 14 years of service on the Commission, he has served as chairman of the Lee County Commission, the Lee County Port Authority, and the Tourist Development Council. His priority during his career in public service has been the preservation of our quality of life in the face of almost overwhelming growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 1, 2022, Frank and his wife, Mary Lee, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Frank enjoys spoiling his three beautiful grandchildren. He is an active member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. As part of his church activities, he has been a choir member for over 50 years and also plays baritone horn in the church orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>GS 10 Preserve in Lehigh Acres will be renamed the Frank Mann Preserve<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"631\" height=\"322\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-1-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-53712\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-1-4.png 631w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-1-4-300x153.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 631px) 100vw, 631px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>GS-10 is partially open to the public from the&nbsp;Joel Blvd. entrance. Current allowed activities include&nbsp;kayaking &amp; canoeing, fishing,&nbsp;bird watching, and walking in limited open areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greenbriar Swamp (GS)-Section 10 was formally used for mining activities in east Lee County.&nbsp;A name for this preserve will be proposed and presented to the Lee County Board of Commissioners at a public board meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GS-10 is a partnership project co-managed by Lee County Parks &amp; Recreation and Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District (LA-MSID). A conceptual project&nbsp;for GS-10 proposes to reconfigure an existing mine lake into a filter marsh for stormwater treatment and a storage reservoir for flood control. Stored water may be diverted into the Greenbriar Swamp for extending wetland hydro-periods. This conceptual project controls flow in a six square-mile area with weirs to control discharges and utilizes the mine lake as a stormwater detention basin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Franklin B.
