At least three kittens were thrown from a moving vehicle and onto a highway in Lehigh Acres Friday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n

A witness said the approximately six-week-old kittens were alive when they were tossed from a vehicle driving on Daniels Parkway, just east of State Route 82. This happened at approximately 8:30 a.m., during the heart of morning rush hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brittany Blanchard was on her way to work when she saw something she couldn\u2019t identify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI had seen something squirming on the floor,\u201d Blanchard said. \u201cIt looked like maybe a dark squirrel and then I thought it was a kitten.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She swerved to try and steer clear of it, but what came next she couldn\u2019t avoid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNext thing you know there was a flying white kitten twirling, about window height,\u201d she said<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A kitten, yes a real-life and very much so alive kitten. She pulled a U-turn to do what any animal lover would: try to save them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cI saw the one that was in the road kicking and he had been hit again,\u201d Blanchard said. \u201cThere was another one that was just\u2026 demolished.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, she saw three kittens tossed onto the highway, but only found two. What she also didn\u2019t see was which vehicle they were coming from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was too distracted with the cats to know which car was what,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blanchard called the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office (LCSO) and deputies responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An LCSO spokesperson said they did find the remains of at least one animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s a great question. One that detectives hope you might be able to solve. They\u2019re looking for any tips as to who might have done this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If they\u2019re caught and charged, Blanchard has a punishment in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf I was the judge, I mean, I think they should have to work in different animal hospitals after they do their time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And most certainly never own pets in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t touch any animals ever again,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
