{"id":53484,"date":"2022-06-01T14:07:31","date_gmt":"2022-06-01T18:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=53484"},"modified":"2022-06-01T14:07:35","modified_gmt":"2022-06-01T18:07:35","slug":"suspect-arrested-in-shooting-of-hot-dog-stand-owner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2022\/06\/suspect-arrested-in-shooting-of-hot-dog-stand-owner\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect arrested in shooting of hot dog stand owner"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with\u00a0the shooting of a hot dog stand owner\u00a0in Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"287\" height=\"321\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-53485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-4.png 287w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-4-268x300.png 268w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 287px) 100vw, 287px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Deputies arrested 25-year-old James William Gonzalez after they say he shot Kelvis Maiguil, a beloved hot dog stand worker at Ceberino\u2019s Hot Dogs &amp; More.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office said a deputy patrolling the area near 600 Homestead Road South hears several shots and saw Gonzalez running away from the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deputy tried to arrest Gonzalez, but Gonzalez fled into the woods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies stopped to help Maiguel and transported him to the hospital as a trauma alert. LCSO\u2019s K-9 unit, aviation unit, and multiple patrol units searched the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonzalez was found in the area of Dauphine Avenue South, deputies said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to LCSO, Gonzalez resisted arrest but was caught by a K-9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonzalez was taken to the hospital and later transported to the Lee County Jail after medical clearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and resisting without violence.
