{"id":52174,"date":"2022-02-01T12:44:48","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T17:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=52174"},"modified":"2022-02-01T12:45:04","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T17:45:04","slug":"did-you-know-104","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2022\/02\/did-you-know-104\/","title":{"rendered":"Did you Know?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Paul Waldmiller<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you know that another Florida school employee, this time a principle was recently arrested for sending sexually explicit texts to an undercover detective posing as a teenage boy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Derrick-McLaughlin.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Derrick-McLaughlin.jpg 200w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Derrick-McLaughlin-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Derrick-McLaughlin-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>41-year-old Derrick McLaughlin, a principle at Warren Hope Dawson Elementary School in Riverview, is alleged to have sent the sexually explicit text messages to detectives who were portraying themselves as a 15-year-old boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hillsborough County detectives say over the course of the investigation, McLaughlin attempted to entice the undercover detectives he believed was a teenager to engage in the sexual acts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detectives also stated that McLaughlin was charged with transmitting harmful material to a minor, unlawfully using a two-way communications device, and using computer services or devices to solicit illegal acts.
