Deputies said they were malnourished and were surrounded by piles of feces and dirty water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"442\" height=\"283\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-1-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51819\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-1-4.png 442w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-1-4-300x192.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 442px) 100vw, 442px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Both dogs, Shakira, a black German Shepherd mix, and Shira, a brown German Shepherd mix, were taken by law enforcement to receive medical care. It was found that Shakira and Shira were severely underweight and had bones protruding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"544\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51821\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2-6.png 544w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2-6-300x165.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 544px) 100vw, 544px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Detectives investigated the incident and said Abreu had been allegedly leaving the dogs in their cages for too long without food or water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Abreu was being interviewed by detectives, he snatched one of the detective\u2019s notes \u201cin an attempt to hinder our investigation,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sheriffleefl\/videos\/351704990099787\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the sherifff\u2019s office said.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"261\" height=\"314\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-3-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51822\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-3-2.png 261w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-3-2-249x300.png 249w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Abreu was arrested and is facing charges of animal neglect and obstruction without violence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Lehigh Acres man was arrested for allegedly abusing his two dogs.
