The Lehigh Acres Senior Center will host an open house on Jan. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The goal of the event is to bring awareness and highlight the various programs and services that the Senior Center offers. The center is located at 219 Plaza Dr., Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is free and open to the public and for both non-members and members alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring the day we\u2019ll have all of our programming on display. There will be tables for many of our crafting classes that highlights what they do throughout the year. Each of our classrooms will feature activities including: stained glass, sewing, dominos and game day, card games like bridge,\u201d<\/em> Mary Vance, Supervisor at Lehigh Acres Senior said. \u201cOur thrift store and travel desk will also be open.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees can also enter raffles at the various tables, with a chance to win the passport raffle, which will be announced at the end of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEach table will have raffles and giveaways of items they made in their classes. For the individual table raffles, attendees don\u2019t have to be present to win. We will also announce the winner of our passport raffle at the end of the day, which is made up of donations from 10 organizations. For that raffle, the winner must have completed their passport book and be present to win,\u201d<\/em> Vance said. \u201cAttendees fill their passports by visiting each table location and getting a sticker.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides arts & crafts and other ongoing activities, attendees can check out one of the Senior Center\u2019s exercise classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exercise class demonstrations during the day include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 10 a.m. \u2013 Tai Chi<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 10:30 a.m. \u2013 Dancercise<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 11 a.m. \u2013 Full Body Workout<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 11:30 a.m. \u2013 Zumba<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Noon \u2013 Let\u2019s Entertain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 12:30 p.m. \u2013 Beginner Line Dance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 1 p.m. \u2013 Line Dance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 1:30 p.m. \u2013 Chair-E-Yoga<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 2 p.m. \u2013 Karaoke<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, Lee County Government began to oversee the operations side of the senior center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLehigh Acres Senior Center\u2019s day-to-day operations is run by Lee County Parks and Recreation, but a non-profit runs the thrift store, travel desk and kitchen and sponsor\u2019s our special events. It\u2019s been a really good partnership between the two,\u201d<\/em> Vance explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
