Deputies said they responded to 35th Street Southwest back in November to help Lee County Domestic Animal Services officials rescue the malnourished dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies said the female dog named Sparkle was severely skinny. Sparkle was found tethered to a fence with no food, so detectives with the East Criminal Investigations Division and the Animal Cruelty Task Force took over the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sparkle was about 30 pounds underweight, and he bones were visibly protruding from her skin, according to LCSO officials. She was taken to Lee County Domestic Animal Services for medical treatment. Detectives found out she was severely underweight because of a lack of food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee was previously cited for Sparkle\u2019s living conditions, and he failed to correct the issues, so Sparkle was removed from his home, according to deputies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee was arrested Monday and taken to the Lee County Jail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Lehigh Acres man was arrested on animal cruelty charges for starving his dog.
