United States officials are preparing for a bad flu season in addition to COVID-19, and urge Americans to vaccinate against both viruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI get it: We are all tired of talking about vaccines,\u201d said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But \u201cit is doubly important this year\u201d to get your flu shot, added Walensky, who got her own vaccination earlier this week just as she has every year since she was a medical student in 1995. \u201cWe are preparing for the return of the flu.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reported flu cases dropped to a historically low level globally during the pandemic, due to restrictions. Now that schools and businesses have reopened and travel is resuming, flu season could escalate this winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cWe certainly don\u2019t want a \u2018twindemic,\u2019 both COVID and influenza,\u201d said Dr. William Schaffner of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you still need a Covid-19 vaccination \u2014 either first shots or a booster dose \u2014 you can get it at the same visit as a flu shot, NBC News reported.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
