{"id":50255,"date":"2021-08-29T15:33:37","date_gmt":"2021-08-29T19:33:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=50255"},"modified":"2021-08-29T15:33:47","modified_gmt":"2021-08-29T19:33:47","slug":"man-arrested-in-lehigh-acres-on-parking-lot-kidnapping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2021\/08\/man-arrested-in-lehigh-acres-on-parking-lot-kidnapping\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested in Lehigh Acres on parking lot kidnapping"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Investigators have made an arrest in the Fort Myers kidnapping and carjacking that happened Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/kidnapping-person-and-cat-750x375-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/kidnapping-person-and-cat-750x375-1.jpg 750w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/kidnapping-person-and-cat-750x375-1-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office arrested 32-year-old Tyrone Daniel Witty, they announced Thursday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following Witty\u2019s arrest on Saturday evening, he was also linked to a 7-Eleven robbery that took place on the morning of August 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies responded to the incident in the Marshall\u2019s parking lot on US 41 on Aug. 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim said they stepped away from their car to return a shopping cart when the suspect got inside the car and sped off with more victims inside. Lee County deputies said Witty later stopped the car and ran off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation and talking with witnesses, went over possible leads, and collected evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LCSO confirmed Witty was arrested for carjacking, two counts of kidnapping, and witness tampering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. Marshals Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive task force confirmed the agency made the arrest in Lehigh Acres Thursday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fsheriffleefl%2Fvideos%2F629932464834602%2F&#038;show_text=0&#038;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Witty is also accused of stealing around $150 worth of lottery tickets from a cashier\u2019s hand at the 7-Eleven at 2977 Cleveland Avenue around 8:30 AM, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Investigators have made an arrest in the Fort Myers kidnapping and carjacking that happened Saturday.
