{"id":49503,"date":"2021-07-03T13:42:12","date_gmt":"2021-07-03T17:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=49503"},"modified":"2021-07-03T13:42:21","modified_gmt":"2021-07-03T17:42:21","slug":"deo-connect-continues-to-kicking-people-off-and-crashing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2021\/07\/deo-connect-continues-to-kicking-people-off-and-crashing\/","title":{"rendered":"DEO CONNECT continues to kicking people off and crashing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>CONNECT continues to disappoint Florida&#8217;s unemployed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTell me about what you\u2019ve been experiencing,\u201d reporter Heather Leigh asked. \u201cIt\u2019s impossible, I just took a video of it,\u201d said Deborah Asuncion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DEO ISSUES 2\" width=\"1110\" height=\"624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w_kG0bzHkR0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Asuncion, just like so many others, has been unable to get into their accounts because they can\u2019t even get into the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou sign in and it takes you right back to that first page over and over and over,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the second day she\u2019s tried logging in to claim her weeks and that\u2019s a problem heading into a Holiday weekend \u2014 she fears if she can\u2019t do it Friday, she\u2019ll have to wait until next week for her money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy check would\u2019ve been here today, had I been able to claim yesterday,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis has been horrifyingly a bad week for unemployment claims,\u201d said State Representative Anna Eskamani out of District 47.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She says yesterday her office received about 200 voicemails about locked accounts and getting kicked off the site. Overnight into Friday another 35 calls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been inundated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, the new 2021-2022 budget kicked in and Eskamani spoke to the DEO about WHEN we can expect a plan outlining a new system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey will not give us a timeline but they said they are going to work as fast as possible now that they have the money to officially upgrade the website,\u201d Eskamani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She plans to keep tabs on that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She says the DEO told her that process involves bidding on vendors to move the system to a cloud-based server\u2026 and she\u2019s hopeful that will happen this month going into next. That\u2019s good news for folks like Asuncion who can\u2019t understand how this site is still so terrible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no reason any website should not be able to handle this, I mean call Google for God\u2019s sake and have a conversation with them,\u201d she said. \u201cEvery fix makes it worse. It seems to me that every fix they\u2019ve done just makes it worse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We asked the DEO what\u2019s wrong with CONNECT and they told us,&nbsp;<em>\u201cThe Department has experienced an increase in volume over the last few days, which could be causing the delays in CONNECT.
