{"id":49414,"date":"2021-06-29T13:54:33","date_gmt":"2021-06-29T17:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=49414"},"modified":"2021-06-29T13:54:58","modified_gmt":"2021-06-29T17:54:58","slug":"the-tropics-heat-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2021\/06\/the-tropics-heat-up\/","title":{"rendered":"The tropics heat up"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With Tropical Storm Danny out of the picture, our attention shifts to the open Atlantic where two tropical waves are being monitored for possible development down the road.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leading tropical wave is one we\u2019ve been tracking for over a week now, but a new disturbance directly behind the first also bears watching in the coming days.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"806\" height=\"453\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/nhc1-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/nhc1-1.png 806w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/nhc1-1-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/nhc1-1-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 806px) 100vw, 806px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The environment&nbsp;around both disturbances is pretty unfavorable for the time being; dry air (Saharan dust) and slightly cooler water temperatures are working to hinder&nbsp;development chances in the short term.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this could change later this week as the two tropical waves push west toward the Caribbean where water temperatures are warmer and the Saharan dust not nearly as dense.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Hurricane Center gives disturbance #1 a 40% chance to develop in the next 5 days and disturbance #2 a 20% chance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest model plots for disturbance #1 bring the center of low pressure toward the Lesser Antilles Wednesday, but the models diverge quite a bit into the weekend.
