Not only is ending federal enhanced unemployment benefits pointless, but it will also damage Florida’s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ending these benefits will needlessly pull hundreds of millions in stimulus dollars out of our local economies, to the tune of $700 million dollars in economic impact. Ron’s reasoning for the move is dubious at best. He seems to think that ending these benefits will force more Floridians into the workplace, despite evidence saying otherwise.

Florida’s Unemployment System has failed out of work Floridians throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and even in the best of times, we’re home to some of the worst benefits in the nation. For many unemployed Floridians, state benefits have already run out, and the federal benefits have been a lifeline. DeSantis seems more concerned about playing politics than the livelihood of Florida’s families.
