The car came to rest upright in the canal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/sunshne-suv.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48969\" width=\"243\" height=\"324\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Campbell had his three children as passengers, ages 6, 5 and 2. Campbell and the children got out of the canal with the assistance of a bystander before Campbell ran away, leaving the children, one of whom had sustained a minor injury in the crash. Campbell was later found near his home, around 1.4 miles away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office, deputies had responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at Campbell\u2019s home before the crash. FHP says he sped away with the children after this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was placed under arrest and taken to the Lee County Jail. Campbell faces multiple charges: three counts of DUI, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash, three counts of child neglect, and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Lehigh Acres man is in custody after leaving his three young children at the scene of a DUI crash in a canal Friday morning.
