Those interested may still also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.publix.com\/covid-vaccine\/florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">schedule their shots<\/a>&nbsp;online, something the supermarket chain&nbsp;is encouraging people to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walk-in customers should check with their local stores to make sure they have supplies on hand on any given day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vaccinations are free, though customers with health insurance should bring their cards, according to Publix spokeswoman Maria Brous. Those on Medicare should bring their red, white and blue Medicare Part B cards. Customers should also have their driver&#8217;s licenses and Social Security numbers on hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Publix has become one of the largest distributors of COVID-19 vaccines and was the first retail chain in Florida to provide them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gov. Ron DeSantis said he chose Publix because the company operates so many stores, making them a more convenient site for seniors who may have trouble getting to designated Department of Health sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So that&#8217;s a difference between a centralized site where you try to get as many people through, which logistically can be difficult,&#8221; DeSantis said during a January news conference in Cape Coral announcing the expanded vaccination role for Publix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company operates 1,270 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All Publix Pharmacy locations will provide COVID-19 vaccinations to walk-in customers starting Monday, another indication that inoculations are becoming more easily available&nbsp;to all who want them.
