About two hours later, they tweeted that those needing to access their Reemployment Assistance claim would be able to log on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more than a year, Floridians waiting for benefits have been fed up with the state\u2019s unemployment system. After losing their jobs during the pandemic, thousands who applied for benefits were forced to deal with computer crashes, glitches and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfla.com\/video\/offline-system-appears-to-plague-unemployment-call-center-deo-wont-say-why\/5490338\/\">clogged phone lines,<\/a>&nbsp;and emails gone unanswered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfla.com\/community\/health\/coronavirus\/florida-unemployment\/investigation-into-floridas-unemployment-system-underway\/\">A state investigation into the problem&nbsp;<\/a>found the system was not properly designed or tested and was not responsive during the crisis. According to the report, the primary vendor, Deloitte, had only tested the system for 4,200 users. It was supposed to accommodate 200,000.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfla.com\/community\/health\/coronavirus\/florida-unemployment\/what-went-wrong-with-floridas-online-unemployment-system\/\">What went wrong with Florida\u2019s online unemployment system?&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State Representative Anna Eskamani, a Democrat serving Florida\u2019s 47th District, told 8 On Your Side\u2019s Mahsa Saedi that&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfla.com\/community\/health\/coronavirus\/florida-unemployment\/florida-officials-seek-to-replace-jobless-benefits-system\/\" target=\"_blank\">the DEO now wants millions for a new system<\/a>&nbsp;that employs cloud-based technology to meet a high demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Florida Senator Aaron Bean, a Republican representing the 4th District is sponsoring &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfloridahouse.gov\/Sections\/Bills\/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=72748\">SB 1948<\/a>, which if passed, would upgrade the system.
