{"id":47834,"date":"2021-03-13T14:30:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-13T19:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=47834"},"modified":"2021-03-13T14:30:26","modified_gmt":"2021-03-13T19:30:26","slug":"lehigh-acres-man-charged-after-a-string-of-water-system-thefts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2021\/03\/lehigh-acres-man-charged-after-a-string-of-water-system-thefts\/","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh Acres man charged after a string of water system thefts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A Lehigh Acres man has been charged with grand theft and burglary after allegedly stealing water systems in the East District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/lara.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47835\" width=\"206\" height=\"295\"\/><figcaption>Elvis Fonseca Lara<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office says they were notified of a residential burglary where several kitchen appliances were removed from a business on March 11th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office Construction-Special Investigations Detective and East Criminal Investigations Division Detective were assigned to the case and began investigating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The burglary victim told detectives that there was a GPS tracker installed in one of the stolen appliances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tracker led them to the area of 19th Street West in Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sheriff\u2019s Office located Elvis Fonseca Lara, 34, at a home where the location device was pinging from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While their Detectives discovered 20 water systems, including ones from the burglary on March 11th, inside of the garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also located numerous new construction materials in the backyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These items matched the description of stolen appliances from a string of six thefts beginning on January 19, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A search warrant was executed on the residence, and detectives were able to locate the following items:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>22 water system pressure tanks<\/li><li>16 water system salt tanks<\/li><li>27 water system softeners<\/li><li>3 water system aerators<\/li><li>22 buckets of paint<\/li><li>1 refrigerator<\/li><li>1 kitchen stove<\/li><li>Kitchen cabinets<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lara admitted to deputies the equipment in his possession belonged to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lara was charged with six counts of grand theft, two counts of unoccupied burglary, and one count of unoccupied burglary to a structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since November 3rd there have been 20 water system thefts in the East district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lara may face additional charges as new leads surface.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Lehigh Acres man has been charged with grand theft and burglary after allegedly stealing water systems in the East District.
