Did you know that Governor DeSantis extended his executive order barring suspending home and past due rent evictions for Florida tenants that was due to expire on October 1st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This executive order extends the latest order signed by DeSantis from late in August. Executive Order 20-180 marked the fifth time the Governor has signed an executive order to suspend evictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stemming from the massive loss of employment by millions of Americans including Floridians due to the lock-down during the Corona Virus epidemic, DeSantis followed the Federal Government, Center for Disease Control initial mandate and order that provides federal eviction relief to people who submitted a valid declaration to their landlord regarding past due rent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CDC national order is set to expire on December 31st. It is unknown at this time if the CDC, or also if Governor DeSantis will also extend protections for renters and homeowners past the deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County clerks of some courts stopped processing eviction filings after Gov. DeSantis\u2019 order, but others did not. Prior to the extension, many feared getting served with eviction orders and ending up homeless in a matter of days. The Executive order signed by DeSantis is designed to be a temporary fix to the problem of massive unemployment during the Virus epidemic, but some renters and homeowners remain unemployed during the current recovery phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who still owe past due rent or mortgage payments, tax and money experts are suggesting to contact your lender or landlord and negotiate a payment plan or some sort of settlement. Experts also suggest that the executive order extending renters and mortgagees will not last much longer as the Covid-19 crisis eventually diminishes and finally goes away.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
