{"id":45889,"date":"2020-01-29T11:51:45","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T16:51:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=45889"},"modified":"2020-01-29T11:54:58","modified_gmt":"2020-01-29T16:54:58","slug":"did-you-know-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2020\/01\/did-you-know-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Did You Know?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Paul Waldmiller<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you know that Florida parents have always relied on\ntheir Natural Rights to protect themselves and their children from overreaching\nGovernment and school board\/teachers who wish to influence their children from\nunhealthy, or unwise practices or ideologies?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/parents.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45890\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/parents.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/parents-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/parents-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the rise of teachers and school boards across Florida\ntaking what some consider to be unprecedented steps to usurp parental rights,\nthere are now several Florida bills being introduced to aide parents in their\nquest to guarantee (under Florida Statute) the right to determine their\nchildren\u2019s moral beliefs\/behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first bill is in the Florida House bill&#8211;HB 1059&#8211;that\nattempts to create a parental bill of rights. This proposed bill just passed in\nthe Florida House Education Committee and includes language that the government\nwould not be allowed to limit any parent\u2019s ability, right to direct or\ndetermine the moral and or religious upbringing, education, health care or\nmental health of his or her children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill apparently empowers Florida parents to make\ndecisions specific for their children while simultaneously holding parents\nequally responsible for their children\u2019s mental and physical health. According\nto the bill\u2019s additional language, extra provisions and protections for parents\nhas been added guaranteeing parents&#8217;&nbsp;due process, putting the burden of\nproof regarding any alleged unlawful behavior regarding their\nchildren&nbsp;upon the state\/courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, two separate parental right&#8217;s&nbsp;bills regarding\nabortions&#8211;one in the Florida House, HB 265 and other in the Senate,&nbsp;SB\n404,&nbsp;would require teenage girls to acquire parental approval before\ngetting an abortion. These&nbsp;bills&nbsp;prevent individuals including\nteachers and nurses&nbsp;or school administrators from subverting parental\nauthority and forcing a girl to have an abortion.
