Perhaps\nyou were not aware that in 2018, Florida voters passed a State constitutional\namendment requiring on even number years, the Legislature meet early, beginning\nin January and ending March 31st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every bill raised by our legislators are brought up for a\nspecific reason. Some bills are to help keep Floridan\u2019s safe, while other bills\nappear to stifle personal liberties. 2020 is a year with many bills that will\nimpact your life so it\u2019s best to pay close attention to what our legislators\nwill be voting on. Here are some of the bills that may peak your interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Republican and pro Tempore David Simmons has announced that\nhe will introduce a bill that would prohibit adults under the age of 25 from\npurchasing firearms with a fixed or detachable magazine capacity of more than\nten rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Republican Tom Lee has endorsed the idea of a bill expanding\nbackground checks for guns and stated, is willing to compromise at any cost to\nregulate gun ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SB 40 Sponsored by Democrat Kevin Rader, would prohibit\nplastic carry-out&nbsp;bags and straws from stores or restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SB 68 sponsored by Democrat Lauren Book. Addresses\nhomelessness and gives more of your tax money and increased power to fund, then\nregulates&nbsp;the homeless population here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SB 80 sponsored by Democrat Senator Lauren Book is\nintroducing a bill entitled, \u201cAggravated Child Abuse\u201d. Watch this bill as it\ngives more power to Florida Government and Courts to take children from\nparents!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SB 84 sponsored by Democrat Lauren Book. This bill requires\nlicensed facilities to provide victims of sexual assault information regarding\nemergency contraception.
